Count documents, not just customers
A small business can have few clients but many invoices. A deposit and a final instalment are two invoices. Quotes that are not accepted still count towards the quotes you create.
Consider both an ordinary month and a busy one. For one-off assignments, document volume often matters more to plan selection than your business category.
Example: a business with varied assignments
| Situation | What to record | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| New assignment | Quote with a defined scope | Approval and agreed price |
| Work in two instalments | Split and invoice dates | Count both invoices |
| Invoice still unpaid | Due date and invoice status | Whether a reminder is needed |
An account saves client details and shows paid and outstanding invoices. Your bookkeeper can access issued invoices through a separate bookkeeper account. This helps with handover; it does not maintain the rest of your accounts.
Start with what you need
For occasional PDFs, create individual invoices without subscribing. For saved clients, quotes and a dashboard, compare subscriptions using your expected volume and required features.
How is this different from the regular-clients page?
This page addresses changing assignments and a small invoice workload. If you bill the same clients and amounts every month, see the guidance on recurring invoices. That workflow may require a different subscription even at low volumes.
